January 24/26 dog jacket update.

I can finally reveal Tobey’s latest dog jacket creation. It was a custom job for the organizer of the Owen Sound Farmer’s Market.

TS took the measurements from the pet owner and extrapolated body dimensions.
There were MANY additional notations on the page.

…TS has set up an online presence for your dog. They want/need Black Dog Biscuits, you… my dear hooman… can order their own pack.

PN is out of commission for the next bit. He discovered how much tissue damage one can do to to his 54-year-old, right shoulder and neck. And pain. Oh my f**king god! PN is being reminded just how much discomfort one can experience with pinched nerves and warring opposing muscle groups. X-rays? Done. Ultrasound examination of that muscle/bone/connective tissue set? Done… and PN is now waiting for the diagnosis from the Taddle Creek Health Team. PN commits to physiotherapy? Ug. Yes. Thank glod for extended medical coverage as a retired teacher.

  • Monday, July 1/24… NEW AND INTERESTING EVENT. As you drive the posted speed limit in Ferndale (Ontario), why not make a pit stop at our local visitors centre. Clean bathrooms. Wireless hotspot (for your NON-VEHICULAR telecommunications’ compulsions).

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

A bit on the nose, I know.

I think the most surprising flavour I’ve discovered recently is a tie: black lace elderberry and garlic scapes. Elderberry MUST BE PROCESSED into a jelly. Otherwise, I have a trip to the hospital in my future! TS grew garlic scapes at her VPCI test garden. And we were hooked on the flavour.

Why do these biscuits have different prices?

One of the product lines uses powdered starch that is HAND MADE. It’s just not the same ingredient as one could get from Bulk Barn!
Our house vulture is monitoring the drying process (that makes BDB shelf-stable). This is an energy-intensive process, involving rotating trays to ensure consistency.
The culture vulture (house panther) doesn’t DIRECTLY affect biscuit prices.
TS’ shirt adds an interesting subtext to this process. Heck, even I don’t understand her method (all the time).
On ALL processes requiring razor-sharp cutting, TS uses a butcher-style stainless steel mesh glove. You can be assured that all biscuits are “~99.99% meat-free”.
TS pays attention to the Maillard reactions (browning) and carmelization as the different product are baked.
